Each spring, Oakland Nature Friends welcomes May with a Maifest at their lodge in the Oakland hills: music, dancing, food and friends. Look for Dahoam1516 there at our normal table, back behind the Beer Hut.

A Bavarian tradition
What is Maifest?
In Bavaria, May begins with a celebration of spring. Villages gather around the Maibaum, the tall maypole painted in Bavaria's blue and white and decorated with the crests of local trades and clubs.
There is music, dancing and plenty of food and beer, and the whole community comes out to welcome the warmer days together.
