Dahoam1516 is built on community, access, and hands-on learning.
Our Work-Study Program helps eligible students gain experience in gardening, cooking, and brewing while earning free access to current or future classes.
We do not age-restrict the program — we want it available to anyone eager to learn.
However, a few conditions ensure the program is appropriate for each participant.
Important Note
Dahoam1516 does not offer paid employment through Work-Study.
The value exchange is:
Your volunteer time
In exchange for: free class access + instructor expertise
How to Apply
All Work-Study placements begin by completing a Work-Study Application.
Age Guidance (not restricted)
Under 14: May participate with a parent or guardian present
Note: Parents accompanying a younger participant may receive a discounted admission at the host's discretion.
Age 14-16: May participate with written permission from a parent or guardian.
The parent or guardian does not need to be in attendance, but must be reachable for emergencies.

Age 17-18: May participate but must demonstrate parental consent.
Adults (18+): May participate under one of the following sub-programs:
School Affiliation: Proof of enrollment in school or coursework aligning to target study area (gardening / cooking / brewing)
Non-Income Consideration: Proof of prior interest in target study area (gardening / cooking / brewing)
Low-Income Consideration: Proof of low-income status
Work-Study Award Process
All applications are reviewed by the host and a club officer
Applicant will receive an application status within 10 business days from the date of submission
Final Applications will be provided the following potential outcomes:
Accepted: You will work with the host or club officer to define a schedule
Delayed: You can reapply after 12 weeks
Denied: A reason will be given and you can appeal through a subsequent application
All applications are kept on file for 3 years
What's required
Students work under the direct supervision of the event host or a club officer or delegate
Arrive 15 minutes prior to the class starting (or at the agreed time)
Expected to work the entirety of the class session, unless otherwise agreed upon with the host
Single class - expect to work before/during/after the class
Multi-Class/Program - expect to work 8-10 hours/month depending on the program
