What is a Bavarian Frühschoppen?
A Frühschoppen is a traditional Bavarian late-morning gathering centered around conversation, hearty food, and beer. Friends and family meet at long tables to enjoy Weißwurst (white sausages), pretzels, fresh bread, and wheat beer while sharing stories and relaxing together. Unlike the typical American brunch, a Frühschoppen focuses on simple, traditional foods and a welcoming communal atmosphere.
What to Expect
At our Mother’s Day Bavarian Brunch, guests can enjoy:
• Homemade Weißwurst with sweet Bavarian mustard
• Fresh Brezn (pretzels) and traditional breads
• Bavarian-style Weißbier and other traditional Bavarian-style beers crafted onsite
• Classic brunch favorites like Reiberdatschi (potato pancakes) and Arme Ritter (French toast)
• Sweet treats from local Alameda partners
• A relaxed atmosphere perfect for celebrating Mom
Keeping with tradition:
“Die Weißwurst darf das Zwölf-Uhr-Läuten nicht hören.”
(The Weißwurst should not hear the noon church bells.)
We end our Weisswurst service at 1150.
